Sheridan College

Malone Belton Abel has worked with the local community college in Sheridan for over thirty years.   In the 1970’s and 1980’s the firm designed the Business Education Wing addition to the main building; remodeled the student Commons and Bookshop for energy efficiency; designed the Sports Complex (a three-sided grandstand for college and community use) and brought College buildings into complete code compliance.

The Diesel Hydraulics Building formed a new south facade of the Campus in 1983 and expanded the vocational training program in maintenance of construction and mining equipment.   A constrained budget and projected rigorous usage of the building required economical, durable finishes and special systems for safety and code compliance.  An active solar panel system supplemented the heat requirements.

In the early 1990’s  we designed the Whitney Hub in the central building as an area where hurried students could meet friends, get a coffee between classes, and check the bulletin board.  Later we transformed a basement area into a coffee house with a small stage.

In the past fifteen years, our projects have included:
•  Allied Health Wing Comprehensive Renovation
•  Master Plan for Northern Wyoming Community College District
•  Founders Residence Hall
•  Center for Technology Enhanced Learning
•  South Dorm Renovation
and we are working on the Performing Arts Center at the WYO and designs for the Large Animal Science Center and the addition to the Culinary Institute.
